5 Mega Pixel board for Gumstix Overo launched

Finally, as we announced in our previous post, we have launched the 5M pixel camera board support for Gumstix Overo COMs. It took us sometime for this since we were trying to get a new custom cable instead of the Gumstix supplied cable and had to go through 3 to 4 revisions before arriving at this. We went for a FRC cable instead of a flex cable to get better reliability.

The FRC cable is 5cm long and can be connected and disconnected many times without any damage to the cable. The 5M pixel Gumstix board is different from the 3M pixel version since we have the board changes accommodated for the cable. The new custom cable will not work with the e-CAM32_OMAP_GSTIX. However, we will come with a new revision of e-CAM32_OMAP_GSTIX which will accommodate the new cable.

We have streamed 720p at 30fps and also had integrated Gstreamer in to the source tree. We were able to save a Video in the USB flash drive in VGA resolution at 30fps using H.264 Video compression. We are demoing the same at ESC Boston too on Sept 21st and Sept 22nd. So, if you are in the New England area, please reach us at booth#1120 for the demo.
