Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

1. What are the specifications and features of the RouteCAM_CU25_IP67?

RouteCAM_CU25_IP67 is a high-speed Robust Global Shutter GigE camera designed for capturing clear images of moving objects and scenes over long distances up to 100 meters. It supports Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) at 60 frames per second and features an onboard high-performance Image Signal Processor (ISP) for optimizing image quality. The camera can stream compressed video in MJPEG, H.264, and H.265 formats. For additional details, including physical dimensions, weight, and temperature range, please refer to the Datasheet.

2. Are other models available in the RouteCAM series, and what are their features?

Yes, the RouteCAM series offers a range of models tailored to diverse application needs:

RouteCAM_CU22: A PoE HDR Camera based on the IMX662 image sensor, ideal for capturing high-quality images in challenging lighting conditions, and IP67-rated for outdoor use.

RouteCAM_CU20: A non-IP-rated low-light HDR camera based on the IMX462 image sensor, offering excellent low-light performance for indoor applications.

3. What kind of cable do I need to connect the camera?

The camera uses a standard Ethernet cable to RJ45 for both power and data transmission.

4. Can I get the camera with an RJ45 interface?

The camera typically comes with a Cat6 M12 connector by default. However, it can be customized to have an RJ45 connector. To request this customization, please email camerasolutions@e-consystems.com.

5. Does the camera require a separate power supply?

No, the camera is Power over Ethernet (PoE) compliant, enabling it to receive power through the Ethernet cable.

6. Can I use a longer Ethernet cable than 100 meters?

While the maximum recommended cable length is 100 meters, extension beyond this range can be facilitated using network switches or Ethernet extenders, subject to appropriate technical considerations.

7. Is lens replacement feasible with the camera?

By default, the camera comes with an M12 lens holder and as it is an IP67-rated camera, the lens is glued to the lens holder. If you need a different lens, e-con can customize any lens according to your requirements.

8. What operating systems are supported for the camera?

The camera is supported on Windows and Linux operating systems.

9. Does RouteCAM_CU25 work only on X86-based platforms?

No, RouteCAM_CU25 is compatible with any platform that supports the Ethernet interface, including:

  • NVIDIA Jetson
  • i.MX8 processor series
  • Raspberry Pi

No special drivers are required for integration.

10. Is synchronization supported in RouteCAM_CU25 while using multiple cameras?

Yes, RouteCAM_CU25 supports PTP synchronization, allowing triggering over ethernet for synchronized multi-camera streaming.

11. What PTP profile does this camera support, and how does it ensure accurate synchronization in networked environments?

The camera implements the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), specifically the PTP profile for ordinary clock (OC) or boundary clock (BC). It supports various clock sources, such as network time servers, to synchronize its internal clock with other PTP-enabled devices, ensuring accurate timestamping of video frames and events in networked applications.

12. Does it support timestamping with each frame?

Yes, this camera uses the RTSP protocol to stream data over the Ethernet interface, allowing RTSP timestamping with every frame.

13. Does this GigE camera support the ONVIF protocol?

Yes, RouteCAM_CU25 supports the ONVIF protocol, including functions such as device discovery, media management, and capabilities.

14. Can I use the camera with the 10/100Mbits standard?

Yes, this GigE camera is backward compatible with the 10/100Mbit standard.

15. Can the camera be triggered externally? If so, what are the specifications for the trigger signal?

Yes, the M8 connector includes an opto-isolated trigger input. You can refer to the documentation for specific voltage levels.

16. How can the camera's General Purpose Output (GPO) pins on the M8 connector be utilized for external device control, and what are the programmable options for these pins?

The GPO pins on the M8 connector can be programmed to control external devices such as LEDs or relays. Programmable options may include:

  • Setting the output voltage level (high/low)
  • Pulse duration
  • Triggering conditions based on events like motion detection or alarm activation.

For detailed information, please refer to the RouteCAM_CU25 documents.

17. Is the camera suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, the camera is rated IP67, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against water immersion for up to 30 minutes in 1 meter of water.

18. Can I get this camera without an enclosure?

By default, the camera comes with an IP67-rated enclosure. Customization for a version without an enclosure is available upon request. Please send an email to camerasolutions@e-consystems.com for more information.

19. Is this camera suitable for use in an earth-moving vehicle, and would you recommend an ethernet interface for reliable connection in a high-vibration environment?

Certainly. This camera is a perfect choice for use in an earth-moving vehicle. It has undergone testing to comply with ISO 16750-3 standards, ensuring its resilience to shock and vibration and overall suitability for the demanding environment of an earth-moving vehicle. Additionally, Ethernet is a good choice for a reliable connection in this environment due to its inherent resistance to interference and ability to transmit data over long distances.
